Ms. Emaline B. Russell
Mrs. Russell, though an already experienced teacher, received a county certificate to teach in 1912, four years before West Brownsville school opened.
She was both principal and classroom teacher at West Brownsville School for 26 years. The name of West Brownsville School was changed to Russell Elementary School in her honor.
Mission
Russell Elementary School, rich in cultural heritage, will produce well educated graduates who can pursue higher educational opportunities and who will become responsible citizens in a changing global society by utilizing all resources to provide equitable opportunities for students.
Vision
Brownsville Independent School District, rich in cultural heritage, will produce well-educated graduates who can pursue higher educational opportunities and who will become responsible citizens in a changing global society by utilizing all resources to provide equitable opportunities for students.
