Dear Russell Parents,
As the new principal at Russell Elementary School, it is my honor and pleasure to welcome everyone back for another amazing 2021-2022 school year. We are all excited to have students back in our classrooms and hallways filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning. It is our mission to help every child feel welcomed, connected and a part of our Russell Elementary School family. Additionally, we strive to challenge each student to grow in their academic abilities. At Russell Elementary School, we are privileged to have great teachers who spend hours planning and creating classroom activities to engage our students in learning.
While we are in the business of educating, our first priority is the safety and well-being of all our students and staff. Please be assured that Brownsville ISD and Russell Elementary School have been working diligently on our 2021-2022 Safety Re-Entry Plan, which can be accessed on the BISD website.
Our first official school day is Tuesday, August 17, 2021. We understand the importance of strong partnerships and the impact it has in your child’s education. Therefore, the academic success of our students is our shared responsibility and in order to carry those our we ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring:
- They be on time, attend class daily, and are ready for the day’s learning.
- Complete and submit all classwork/homework assignments given by the teacher on a daily basis.
- Read daily to develop their love for reading, improve vocabulary, fluency and comprehension.
- Inform you if they need additional support in any area or subject.
- Know that we expect them to succeed in school.
I encourage you to frequently visit our school webpage (https://russell.bisd.us/) and follow us on our social media platforms listed below for up-to-date and accurate information.
